In the past, Happy Keys Piano School has offered in-home private lessons
to the Saratoga Springs, NY area very successfully. I would like to give a
huge "thank you" to all of my students and their families for their continued support of the school. . I am amazed at the successes that we have had, and the progress made with the students. It has been a wonderful nine years.

Over the years, I have had many ideas on how to expand the business and dreams of what direction Happy Keys Piano School might take. Finally after years of dreaming, Happy Keys is full service! Happy keys still comes to your livingroom for your private lesson, and now offers four yearly recitals, and full access to lesson books, special music sheets, and supplies! All of this service at our fingertips. No more trips to the store, searching for books on a handwritten list. Miss Jessica takes care of it all for you, and at a huge discount! You will get more books for your money throughout each year, making learning all the more accessible.

Happy Keys now offers three yearly semesters for 2012!

January 1-June 30
July 1-August 31
September 1-December 31

A special tuition rate is calculated, by multiplying your lesson day/time by the number of weeks in the semester. Then happy keys takes off a customer loyalty discount. All school vacation weeks are removed from the tuition schedule, and become optional. At the time of vacation, customers can decide whether or not their student will be taking a lesson that day/week and the lesson price is cut in half. Extra supplemental lessons are also reduced to 50% off regular price. Prepare for the upcoming recital and add some extra lesson time for half the normal cost.

The tuition program also includes one annual fee of $100 for 4 recitals, and $100 annual supply fee. It is paid once and is good for one year from time of purchase. Recitals were $50 each, now you get twice as many opportunities for half the cost! Supply fee includes all core lesson curriculum, extra special music sheets at the choice of the student, recital binder, and clear sheet protectors to prepare for recitals.

Metronomes $25.
Includes 9V battery.
Every home should have one. Trains your student to have perfect rhythm, to play smoothly along with other musicians without any rhythmic hiccups. Also helps tremendously with future musical recording endeavours.
Buy from happy keys and save a trip to the music store and the grocery store to buy your battery :)

If your child is a student of happy keys piano school, it would be very wise to consider signing him up for general music, band/orchestra, chorus. One or all of these classes would reinforce what the student will learn in our private lesson, and would create more opportunity for a full understanding of musical theory, techniques, performance etiquette, and the concept of practicing towards mastery of an instrument.

Let's just say, for example, that your daughter decides to play flute in the school band. She will learn how to read treble clef notes, note value and rest value, dynamics of sound, complex rhythms, how to play with a group. Her brain will be practicing melody, harmony and rhythm in a very focused way, working to hold her part while many other musicians are playing different melodies, harmonies, and rhythms.

I can't stress enough how much value there is in taking advantage of the school music program, that you are paying taxes to provide for your child. Encourage your child today to explore new musical territories, to maximize the learning potential available in the private lesson!

Why I Love Music

To me, music is not just notes on a paper, or even sounds with a melody. True music is the soul and passion you put into it. In truth? I hate practicing songs from the piano books, because I just prefer to learn by ear- (sounding it out) but it's all part of learning "the way of the keys," so I can tolerate it.

A good friend of mine, and an amazing piano teacher taught me all this-and they know who they are! They have inspired me to do what I never thought I could. One day, that good friend had me play a new piece that I was learning on her piano, as I had showed her so many times. But this time, I realized something. The smile I saw on her face was genuine. As I was about to ask if she liked it, she hugged me, and told me: "this time you got it right!" Now I realize what she meant.

To play the piano, it has to come from the heart to be complete. I hope to continue with piano all the way through, and with my amazing piano teacher (hint-hint:MISS JESSICA!!!!) as my teacher all the way. I love piano-and that is how I hope it stays!
